What Baby Formula to Buy?

Some mothers need to bottle feed their babies with baby formula. This could be a daunting task as you need to go to the supermarket to buy a tin. When you get there, you will see many tins of baby formula milk all in the same row. You probably got overwhelmed with a huge variety of selections of formula milk and you don’t know which one to get.

With all the different formula brands, let us come down to a basic age group. As you may notice, you will see the recommended ages on the front of the tin and this is an indication that that certain milk is for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers.

Starter milk is developed specifically for babies from birth to assist growth and development. Follow On from 6 months milk contains less protein and sodium and higher iron. Toddler from 12 months contains more iron and added vitamins and minerals as their bodies need more nutrients as they grow.

If you are a new mom, you probably are looking for the best infant milk among the many infant formula brands in the supermarket. Although all formula milk must meet the requirements of FDA, there are still differences among them. For example, Enfamil and Similac are made with a combination of whey and casein proteins just like breast milk, while Good start milk is made of 100% whey protein. Another difference is that Enfamil contains palm olein oil while Similac does not contain such oils.

As consumers, we often hear about that a particular brand is the best milk for your baby and not their competitors, but actually there is no official study that shows and proves that one brand is way better than other baby formula brands. There have not been any recommendations about formula feeding as to date. Breastfeeding is still best for babies and is still preferred over formula by many mothers.
