Cornwall Park, Auckland New Zealand

The splendid park that surrounds One Tree Hill was gifted to the people of New Zealand in 1901 by Sir John Logan Campbell, affectionately known as "the founding father of Auckland." Campbell had the foresight to realize that the new city would need an area of parkland where its people could relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Then visitor center in Huia Lodge has a wealth  of information about the park, and in the nearby Acacia Cottage you can see what the living conditions were like in the early days of Auckland's settlement. Acacia Cottage was built in 1841 by Brown and Campbell and is the oldest surviving building in Auckland.
