Happy Halloween!

The word “Halloween” is a contraction of the phrase “All Hallows’ Evening.” It is a holiday observed annually in most of the countries on October 31, the night before All Hallows Day. Halloween has ancient origins tied to the change of season, time of harvest, and all soul’s day or festivals honoring the dead. The most typical Halloween activities are trick or treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, and attending costume parties. Other typical activities that you can do during Halloween includes apple bobbing, lightning bonfires, visiting haunted attractions, playing pranks, watching horror films, and telling scary stories.

It is thought that Halloween has been influenced by the Christian holy days of All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day which are celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November respectively. In the Philippines, we also celebrate Halloween but not like how US does it. Filipinos celebrate this holiday with their loved ones who already passed away in the cemetery.
