Lord of the Rings: Hobbiton

The Waikato region of the North Island is one of the richest farming areas in New Zealand, and this is where the Lord of the Ring's Hobbiton is located.

I wanted to go in Hobbiton but it involves a lot of money for you need to have a tour guide to enter into this famous place.

The area's development can be accredited to an Englishman named Josiah Clifton Firth, who emigrated from Yorkshire in 1855.

With a strong vision for the area, he commenced on a large-scale drainage of the fens and planted vast paddocks in grass, wheat, barley, and oats.

Today, Matamata remains a country service town, with the cheese factory Firth developed at Waharoa still turning milk from local farms into cheese. Matamata rich grassland now produces another lucrative crop. The Waikato has developed into New Zealand’s main racehorse-breeding area.
I hope we could spend our Christmas holidays in this famous place called Hobbiton.
