Breastmilk Ice Cream
Icecreamists, an ice cream parlor located in London's Covent Garden is selling an ice cream made from breastmilk of a lactating mothers. The ice cream named "Baby Gaga" is sold for 14 pounds a scoop. They intended to promote awareness of breastmilk's deliciousness and encourage mothers to breastfeed their babies.
UK Officials have confiscated the breastmilk ice cream from the London shop amid concerns the desert is unsafe to eat. It is actually yucky to eat an ice cream made from a human milk, but according to them, it is pure organic, free range and totally natural. The milk is expressed by 15 women who responded to the advertisement posted on an online mothers' forum. Mrs. Hiley, one of the women who expresses her milk for an extra cash said that she gets 15 pounds for every 10 ounces of milk she donates to the company and quoted that "it was a great recession beater."
The confiscation was done in response to two complainants from the public concerning about the safety of the product while awaiting guidance from Britain's Food Standard Agency. "We are taking the ice cream away for samples," a spokeswoman told AFP, adding that they expect results by Monday. She explained that breastmilk could carry viral infections, including hepatitis.
This ice cream is marketed as "Baby Gaga" and launched last week. It has proved a huge hit, with the first batch sold out within days of going on sale. Each serving sold is brought out by waitresses wearing flamboyant costumes, something Lady Gaga is well-known for.
Now, lawyers for US pop icon Lady Gaga have threatened legal proceedings against the maker of the breastmilk ice cream named "Baby Gaga," according to the papers seen by AFP on Saturday.
The lawyers have given the manufacturers until 1600 GMT Wednesday to change the name if they wish to avoid the proceedings for trademark infringement and passing off.
