Hot Water Beach

Hot Water Beach is located along New Zealand's Pacific coast just south of Mercury Bay at the northeast tip of the Coromandel Peninsula.

It is not a secret place, it's actually known around the world.

If you're coming to Hot Water Beach, you may need to know:

When to arrive
What to bring
How to get here
How much does it cost

When to arrive?

Make sure to arrive one or two hours before low tide. We are so unfortunate that we were not able to enjoy the beauty of this beach. If it's really low tide, you can stake-out a place to dig your spa and allow to relax and have some fun in your spa before the tide rises and reclaims the beach, thus your relaxation ends.

What to bring?

Beach gear, of course! Bathing suit and sandals
Beach towels and sunscreen are necessary
Spade and bucket (to help you dig your spa and for the kids to play with)
Camera! Never forget your camera...

How to get here?

There's only one way going here. Take State Highway 25 to Whenuakite where the only notable junction is the road to Hot Water Beach, Cook's Beach and Hahei/Cathedral Cove. Stay on the main road until you see the (right) turn to Hot Water Beach (~8 km). Please pay attention to the speed limit on this road as it gives a good indication of the road condition -- which is paved right up to the car park.

How much does it costs?

There is no entrance fee in going to Hot Water Beach. Can you believe it? Coming to this amazing place won't cost you a cent, aside from your petrol of course! There's no charge... It's FREE and it's open to the public!!!

Sadly though there's,

No mobility access
No camping and please plan not to bring your dog, they're not prohibited but dogs must be on a lead and you'll have to "police" any mess.

HOT WATER BEACH IS FREE...

Come, visit and be Amazed!!!
