Haka in Mangere East Library

Maori - Haka
In celebration of Matariki Festival, Maori people performed a Haka outside Mangere East Library. We gathered under the sun to see their Haka. It was really nice and well delivered. Our favorite is the one who's wearing yellow shirt in the back row. His haka was so intense and he gave his all in doing his thing. Though we don't understand what they were singing, we still watched it and appreciated it.

The red, blue, and white puffy balls that you see in the picture hanging on the women's waists are called "poi."

After a few numbers from them, they gave out a free sausage sizzle. At first, we thought it was for sale. My hubby had coins in his pocket and about to pay for the sausages when he noticed that it was for free. It was for everyone who came in and watch the show. What a lucky day for us!!! We had a free lunch! Yipee!
